Now enrolling – August/September 2026

Most schools teach children what to think. We teach them how.

Chalkwork is Abuja's play-based nursery and primary school. Every activity is designed to raise a child who can think independently, adapt confidently, and lead when there's no blueprint.

Why parents choose Chalkwork

Other schools shape children to fit the system. We shape the system to fit the child.

At Chalkwork, every decision, from how your child is taught to how they are assessed, starts with one question: what does this particular child need?

Your child is known, not numbered

Every staff member, from the gate to the classroom, knows your child by name.

Learning through play is more rigorous, not less

The IEYC curriculum is built around how children actually think, not how adults wish they would.

Fresh meals, designed by a nutritionist

Designed by a qualified nutritionist, cooked from scratch every day.

Safety is not a promise here. It is a practice.

CPR-trained staff, controlled access, small classes. Every parent named safety as their top priority.

The growth is not gradual. Parents notice it fast.

Parents describe communication breakthroughs and confidence shifts they were not expecting so quickly.

You do not just enrol your child. You join a community.

Chalkwork parents actively choose to stay, even when relocation would be easier.

Real parents. Real stories.
In their own words

What Chalkwork parents actually say

★★★★★
We even went to the hospital. They ran tests. Nothing was wrong. Six months at Chalkwork later, she has not stopped talking. She was not delayed, she just needed an environment that felt safe enough for her to speak.
★★★★★
I visited over eleven schools before I found Chalkwork. Most of them looked fine on paper. But when I walked in here, I felt something different immediately. The warmth was not rehearsed.
★★★★★
The environment, the cleanliness, the way the teachers follow up, it feels like a home, not a school. My child cried when we had holidays. That told me everything I needed to know.
★★★★★
My girls communicate so much better now. The play-based approach, the small class sizes, I was skeptical at first. Now I tell every parent I know: come and see it for yourself.
★★★★★
What I noticed first was the cleanliness, so clean you would not believe children were actually there. And then the reception. No hard selling. No performance. Just genuine warmth from the first minute.

Built for the school she wished existed

"I wanted to build a school I would actually send my own child to. Every decision comes from one question: is this good enough for my own child?"

Safety first, always

We train for the moments you never want to happen

Every staff member at Chalkwork is trained in infant and child CPR. Because the best schools do not just hope for safety, they prepare for it.

CPR-certified staff

All team members train in infant and child CPR and first aid, not just management.

🔒

Controlled access at all times

Structured drop-off and pick-up with staff-managed security from gate to classroom.

👁

Small class sizes by design

We keep class sizes intentionally small so every child is visible, known, and attended to.

The real difference

One school fits children to the system. The other fits the system to the child.

Every school in Abuja will tell you they care about your child. Here is what that actually looks like in practice.

What happens when a child is free to explore

Reading is just the beginning. They write the books.

Chalkwork children have authored and presented their own original books at the school Authors Fair, in front of a live audience, holding a microphone, at ages 4 to 7. This is what play-based learning produces when you give children the freedom to become.

Common questions

Things parents always ask us

We welcome children from 1 year old through to primary school age. Each class is structured around the child's developmental stage, not just their age.
It means children learn through structured, intentional play, not worksheets. Research consistently shows this is how early brains develop language, problem-solving, and social skills most effectively.
The International Early Years Curriculum is a globally recognised framework used in leading early years schools worldwide. It focuses on the whole child, cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.
Security is a priority at every level, from how the building is structured to how we manage drop-off and pick-up. We are happy to walk you through all of it during your tour.
We use the Lilio app for daily updates, regular Parent-Teacher Conferences, and our teachers are always available for a conversation at pick-up time.
Settling takes time and that is normal. Our team is experienced in supporting children through transitions. Most parents are surprised at how quickly their child adjusts when the environment feels genuinely safe.
